The first production of Theatre of Hate was ' Original Sin' single realised in November of 1980, which reached no. 5 in the English charts. They presented before its first LP, 'He who dares wins', a live presentation. In August of 1981 they went into the studio with the producer Mick Jones (The Clash).

Theatre Of Hate continued to enjoy success throughout 1982 with new guitarist Billy Duffy in tow, releasing a second live album (He Who Dares Wins: Live In Berlin) and more singles. But sessions for a second album, Aria Of The Devil, were eventually abandoned and the band broke up.
