The first production of Theatre of Hate was ' Original Sin' single realised in November of 1980, which reached no. 5 in the English charts. They presented before its first LP, 'He who dares wins', a live presentation. In August of 1981 they went into the studio with the producer Mick Jones (The Clash).
Theatre Of Hate continued to enjoy success throughout 1982 with new guitarist Billy Duffy in tow, releasing a second live album (He Who Dares Wins: Live In Berlin) and more singles. But sessions for a second album, Aria Of The Devil, were eventually abandoned and the band broke up.
Singer Brandon borrowed the thespian Original Sin - Theatre Of Hate - He Who Dares Wins because he was trying to do the same. They garnered much early attention as a live act, and made their full-length debut in with the live album He Who Dares Wins Live at the Warehouse Leedsreleased on vinyl on their own Burning Rome label.
